Rangers hammer Hearts, chaos at Killie, Lennon returns – Team of the Week

Rangers picked up their third win in a row, with nine goals in that time, putting three past a hapless Hearts side at Tynecastle. Meanwhile at Rugby Park, Kilmarnock were reduced to eight men, while St Mirren picked up a huge win in their survival bid away to Livingston.

On the Sunday, Neil Lennon returned to Easter Road as an inspired Ofir Marciano kept both sides goalless. It’s Adam Mackintosh with the team of the week.

Goalkeeper

Ofir Marciano – The Israeli made several fine saves, including two in injury time to keep Celtic at bay as they drew 0-0. That was his seventh clean sheet in 16 league appearances.

Defence

Paul McGinn – McGinn started the comeback of the Saints as they came from behind for a crucial victory at Livingston. His equaliser was his third goal of the season and leaves St Mirren just two points below Hamilton.

Scott McKenna – The Scotland international scored the only goal of the game as Aberdeen beat 8-man Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. That was the defender’s second goal of the season, both coming in 1-0 away victories.

Michael Devlin – Devlin performed well alongside McKenna as they shut out Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. Their victory leaves them three points clear of Killie in the race of Europe.

Scott Tanser – The full back scored a fine freekick as St Johnstone condemned Dundee to an eighth consecutive defeat. That was his second goal of the season, both of which have come against Dundee.

Midfield

Stephane Omeonga – The Belgian midfielder was once again excellent as Hibs held Celtic at Easter Road. His loan from Genoa is up at the end of the season and surely Hibs will do all they can to keep him.

David Turnbull – Motherwell’s top scorer made it ten for the season as the Lanarkshire Derby finished 1-1 in Hamilton. Later on Saturday, Turnbull was named Motherwell’s player and young player of the season.

Ryan Jack – The midfielder scored Rangers’ first as they beat Hearts. Jack has scored in four matches this season and Rangers have won all of them.

Attack

Daniel Candeias – Two assists for the winger helped Rangers to a 3-1 win at Tynecastle. Rangers have scored three in each of their last three games.

Matty Kennedy – The winger tormented the Dundee defence as St Johnstone beat them 2-0 at McDiarmid Park. The Perth Saints have already eclipsed their points tally of last season, with four games left to play.
