With a game to spare Edinburgh Rugby have retained the 1872 Cup with an 18-6 win against Glasgow Warriors yesterday at Scotstoun. Richard Cockerill praised the work of his players post-match, whilst Dave Rennie believes recent underwhelming form will not be a long-term issue for the Warriors.

It was a night for Richard Cockerill’s Edinburgh men to prove that their development as of late is still holding positive momentum, as the capital side – lead out by Ben Toolis on his 100th appearance for the club – were able to overcome Dave Rennie’s Glasgow Warriors, with the final score line reading 23-7.

Edinburgh winger Duhan Van Der Merwe met with media earlier this week at BT Murrayfield, where he discussed the experience of his first 1872 Cup games last season, how the two teams may match up, and Edinburgh’s developing form.
